- Pritesh Graduated from the University of Queensland (Australia) in 1982.
- He commenced his accounting career with PKF Chartered Accountants (Brisbane-Australia) in the insolvency field.
- In 1987 Pritesh started with NZ CA firm Spicer & Oppenheim specializing in Insolvency.
- An opportunity arose to further his tax experience and a further 8 Years was spent as a tax investigator with Inland Revenue Department.
- From 1995 to 2004 Pritesh was in the retail sector.From 2005 to current his practice Patel & Co provides accountancy services and undertakes insolvency assignments.
- Pritesh has been a Liquidator of over 400 Companies in New Zealand both court appointed and shareholders voluntary appointments.
- Pritesh has also appeared as an expert witness in High court civil matters mainly for Loss Quantification work.
- Pritesh hails from Fiji and is the youngest of in the family of siblings who are all university graduates. His father was the first Indian Aeronautical / Mechanical engineer to graduate out of a university in New Zealand in 1951 and was also a Member of Parliament (Senator) in the Fijian Government.
- Pritesh supports a number of charitable organizations both in New Zealand & Pacific Islands.
- Pritesh is a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner.
- Pritesh is also on the executive committee of Rotary Botany Downs.
- Pritesh was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow award by Rotary International for outstanding contribution to the community.
- In July 2025, Pritesh was awarded a prestigious Indian Newslink award by The Leader of the Opposition for services to the migrant workers. He managed to get all 190+ of them appropriate visas from a liquidation he administered.
Shaheen Azmi | LLB, BCom, DipBus
Legal Consultant
- Shaheen Azmi holds a Bachelor of Laws from Auckland University of Technology and a Bachelor of Commerce from Victoria University of Wellington. She was also awarded a scholarship to complete a Diploma in Business Management in New Zealand and was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand in 2019. Since June 2023, she has provided specialist consultancy services to Patel & Co, working closely with Liquidator, Pritesh Patel on a variety of complex legal matters.
- Her work includes reviewing and disclaiming leases, advising on breaches of directors’ duties, issuing statutory demands, representing the Liquidator in court, and drafting section 292 voidable transaction demands. She also contributes legal guidance to statutory reports for creditors and shareholders, provides opinions on ex-employee claims, and attends liquidation site visits to ensure thorough oversight.
- A recent highlight of Shaheen’s work was assisting the Liquidator in securing appropriate visas for more than 190 former employees from a liquidation, allowing them to remain legally in New Zealand. Her expertise and leadership are invaluable to the practice.
- Fluent in various Indian languages, Shaheen brings a rich cultural perspective to her work. Of and Indian and Iranian heritage, she has been recently appointed to the Ethnic Peoples Advisory Circle for the Upper Harbour Local Board and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Botany Downs.

- Harvindar graduated from University of Northumbria in Newcastle (UK) in 2014 with Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB).
- She is originally from Malaysia with a legal background of more then 20 years of experience.
- Harvindar joined Patel & Co in October 2018 and is assisting Mr. Patel with Company Liquidation, Receivership’s, Analysis and Secretarial work on Insolvency assignments .
- Over the years she has gained valuable experience working in Malaysia in the legal fraternity before moving to New Zealand.
- Apart from English, she is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Malay languages.
- In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and cooking with her family
